My website is http://www.divinemystick.com for the occult.

Also my personal blog at http://life990.blogspot.com.

A little about me: I've been photographing allegedly haunted places and abandoned houses, old buildings, empty businesses, rusty cars, places of rural decay, etc, since April 2009 when my husband first got me into it. I would go and explore places that were supposed to be haunted and would take note as to where they were but that was it. He told me I should take pictures so that's what I started doing. I developed an avid interest in all things haunted and abandoned after I was in a major three car accident and finally started taking pictures of them. I started with mostly places in upper Greenville County SC and a few around Western North Carolina, Hendersonville and Edneyville NC but didn't find near as many in NC as SC so I stuck to that. Over time I started exploring many more places in SC eventually leading into Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia(in fact, VA is one of my favorite places to visit) and Kentucky. When I get to I go to Michigan(I so love the Great Lakes) In fact, I lived there for awhile. Wilmington NC is another favorite place to visit.
I'm from Florida originally so I have to include FL on that list. My favorite place there is the Everglades.
Some of the best supposedly haunted(creepy) places to visit in SC are the Spartanburg Tan Yards, the site of the old TB Hospital, the old buncombe baby cemetery(Hickory Point baby graveyard) in Greenville SC, Hester's Store in Easley SC(I've heard it's going to be torn down), Campbell's Covered Bridge, New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery(been there a number of times) and in NC the Spencer Mtn Mansion in Charlotte NC(it is completely boarded up and impossible to gain entry, Helen's Bridge in Asheville NC, Lincoln Academy in Gastonia NC(the site where Kathleen Smiley was raped, tortured and murdered and Bearwallow Mountain in Hendersonville NC. Along the way, I've found a few abandoned houses that were quite eerie and foreboding.
My interest in psychics, the afterlife, witchcraft, ghosts, the paranormal, etc., became much more pronounced after my second car accident. Over time my love of photography has led into taking pictures of nature, vintage items, classic cars, old house interiors(when I can trespass safely) and almost anything I think will take a good photograph,
I'm a wife, amateur photographer, urban explorer and legendhunter. By that I mean I hunt legends, not ghosts. I'm also an entrepreneur, property manager(and renovation manager), PT truck driver and travel frequently with my job. When I get the time I sell on auction sites as well. Blogging, photography and writing are my passions. Oh yeah and movies. I love movies and reading when I can.

I also come from a long line of spiritists dating back many generations. I am christian and believe in the power of angels, kinetic and divine energy but also believe in the darker side. I come from celtic, irish, romanian and native american descent.

Peace and blessings be with you.......

Abandoned House Bear Creek NC

Visit my other blog at http://nature500.blogspot.com and my websites at http://sassygrrl32.hubpages.com and http://www.divinemystick.com.

Here is an old log cabin I saw near Bear Creek, NC slowly becoming one with the earth.
It appears to be a real cabin too, check out the interior chinking and how the logs are all different sizes. Unknown age but looks pretty old to me. There is a 1970s era mobile home in the backyard so I assume that's when it was abandoned. A little old lady in the yard waved at me...I wonder if she grew up in this homeplace and her family bought her a fancy new trailer home when the roof began to leak.
Another clue, it doesn't face the road but exactly due east instead parallel to the road. I take it to mean the home predates the road possibly. Roads go any direction but old homes like to face east for ventilation and lighting. Another old home with no evidence of ever being electrified. No meter box or wires or antennas but I guess that stands to reason being the interior walls are also logs with mud cement chinking. Just a great place to make a picture. I'll be going back one day for better shots.
The thumbnail is another HUGE version for you to check out, just keep clicking it till it's gigantic.

This is a picture taken by someone else in Hamlet NC. It is clearly of an old, abandoned house. It is a shame these old houses get left to fall into disrepair.

Abandoned House Edneyville NC Update

The first four pictures are taken by me. They were taken a few years ago in the summer. The last eight pictures were taken by a my friend Kevin Haynes. Clearly his were taken in the winter and show the house much better than mine.
The house was built in 1903. I found out who the owner is and emailed for more info but she hasn't emailed me back. The house belonged to her great grandparents. I would love to know the history.

Abandoned House 2 Tryon NC

Here is a photo of another abandoned house I took a picture of while in Tryon NC. There aren't that many abandoned houses that I've found in NC so finding one is a rare find. I have a friend though who has found several in NC and I have emailed by people telling me how many they are. But many roads are not all that accessible and if they appear to be rough or too narrow I won't take my car down it so that could account for the fact I don't find as many besides I like SC a little more when it comes to abandoned houses considering how many I've found and it's usually where I can get off the road without going down into a ditch.

Abandoned House Tryon NC

Here is a photo of an abandoned house taken on Hwy 19 in Tryon NC. I remember this place vaguely. It wasn't hard to get off the road. I think if I remember correctly I just passed it and pulled to the side of the road and parked(there wasn't any traffic to speak of) and took the photo. I remember I'd been out scouting for some old abandoned houses and wasn't finding anything and just happened on to this one. As I said before I don't find that many in NC.

Abandoned House 2 Edneyville NC 66

This is another abandoned house almost right across the street from the Townsend Road house except it's located on Chimney Rock Road/US 64. This house too was creepy to me. Unlike the other house this one appears to have no one ever coming around.
I can't remember if there was an opening to get inside or not. I remember some of the windows being out. It was quite grown up around it. I was only able to park down near the highway and decided even if there was an opening I was right out in the open where someone could see me and I simply didn't want a run in with the sheriff dept so I refrained from trying to go inside and decided to just take pictures besides it was quite grown up and I felt kind of uneasy at this place.
Generally if I feel uneasy at a place I will not attempt to go inside and I will not stick aorund long. Only long enough to take some pictures and go.

Abandoned House Edneyville NC 65

This old abandoned house is located on Townsend Road in Edneyville or it may be considered Hendersonville. I'm not sure. I've been out there near dark and took some pictures and during the day and took pictures too. I find it quite spooky.
The house is abandoned but whoever owns it keeps the lawn mowed and appears to have a garden behind it and keeps tractor equipment etc. there trying to go inside probably would not be a good idea.
I walked around the house and there is an old truck in the back which I also took a picture of. ON the side there is an open door where one could freely walk inside but I don't think the owner lives too far away probably on Townsend Road as well considering it is kept up, the lawn that is and there is a garden. In the winter time there is probably less access by the owner.
I was going to venture inside but decided maybe that might not be a good idea. I did take a number of pictures here though both day and night.

619 Hyder Farm Rd-HVL NC 57

619 Hyder Farm Rd, Hendersonville NC is where this house is located. At the time I took the photo it was empty and pretty run down. It didn't look to me anyone would ever be moving in but the last time I drove by(a few weeks ago) it appeared that someone might be living there. At least there were two vehicles in the yard. Two old Beetles. I couldn't see whether they were tagged or not. It doesn't really matter.

The house is down a rather deserted road meaning there aren't many other houses on that particular road and the ones that are(other than a couple) are empty also. It is right next to I-26 which could be the reason for people not wanting to live on that road. In fact there is a house for sale which has been empty for a long time and it's a nice house. But that could be due to the housing recession.

104 Alex Cove Dr-HVL NC 56

104 Alex Cove Dr in Hendersonville NC is where this house is located. At the time I took this photo this house was empty and the last time I drove by(a couple of weeks ago) it was still empty. I no longer take down the addresses in case at some future date someone moves in it will protect their privacy from snoopers, people looking for something haunted or something to explore and it protects the explorer from possibly being arrested by an overzealous police officer.

The house was pretty tun down when I took the picture but not so much so that no one could live there.

Abandoned Building-Mill Spring NC 53

This is an abandoned building on Landrum Road in Mill Spring NC which is very close to Landrum SC. It is on the corner of Highway 9.

Bell Mtn Abandoned House-Tuxedo NC 50

This is another abandoned house on Bell Mountain that I found while exploring the area and exploring Bell Mountain to see if it really is haunted. I can't say whether it is or not although people have said they've sighted ghosts here. I couldn't say. I went back at night and the first time I found it extremely creepy especially at the site of one of the houses but nothing particulry out of the ordinary. The honest truth is most places are not haunted, it's just myth or urban legend perperated by bored elderly folks who either want to scare the kids, have some fun at the expense of outsiders or just have nothing better to talk about and this livens up their lives and gives people something to talk about.

Either way, I can't say whether it is or not but if anyone has had an experience with this area or would like to share some the stories passed down to them by their grandparents, etc. I'd like to hear it.

Bell Mtn House-Tuxedo NC

This is an old abandoned house I found while exploring the supposedly haunted Bell Mountain in Tuxedo NC located in Henderson county nearest the SC line. In fact if you travel Bell Mtn Rd all the way out which is a very far distance you will run right into The Greenville SC Watershed area which is off limits to anyone but employees or authorized personel. It's an otherwise nice area minus a few old beat down houses in need of repairs. It's out in the country away from the towns but still close enough to not be too big of an inconvenience for those who like the countryside.
There really isn't anyone up there to speak of except for the people that live there and I've walked down the road and even into the Greenville Watershed area after 5 PM. I didn't see anyone. Actually I had a sudden need for a potty break and couldn't wait and the Greenville Watershed appeared to be the best choice with the most privacy so I took it.
There are several old abandoned houses out here and this is one of them.
